SSPT: Schweizerische Gesellschaft für Pharmakologie und Toxikologie

Zusammenfassung

There are 2 daughter societies of the SSPT (among 4), Swiss Society of Experimental Pharmacology (SSEP) and Swiss Society of Toxicology (SST), which are member of the SC-NAT.  The Highlight of 2011 was the Spring Meeting of the SSPT, which took place on April 27 and 28, 2011, in Zurich. A pleanary session was organized on potassium channels (roles in pharmacology & toxicology), an EPHAR  (European Federation of Pharmacological Societies) lecture was hold (Phenotyping of Herg sensitivity) and 4 Minisymposia were organized by the 4 daughter societies of the SSPT. A poster session with 28 posters was also hold, and 3 abstracts chosen for oral presentations.

Beside the Spring Meeting, the SSEP organized at the USGEB 2011 in Zurich (January 28, 2011) a symposium (Organizser:  Leonardo Scapozza (board member of the SSEP)) on  “Imaging life using Positron Emission Tomography (PET): quantitative in vivo assessment of physiological and biological processes”.

The SST organised several modules for the toxicologists as part of its continuing education program (Safety Pharmacology course (Feb 7 to 11, 2011); Fremdstoffmetabolismus (Aug29 to Sept 2, 2011). Moreover there were 2 colloquia on Toxicology – Pathology in Basel. Finally the annual toxicology meeting in Basel (November 10 to 11, 2011) attracted more than 160 participants.
