The Swiss Academy of Science (SCNAT) agrees its tasks for the future with the State Secretariat for Education and Research (SER) every four years. These tasks are then recorded in a service agreement. The services provided are based, first, on SCNAT’s long-term planning for 2008-2011 and, second, on the parliamentary memo on the Promotion of Education, Research and Innovation in the years 2008-2011 (BFI-Botschaft).

The specific objectives and concrete measures are defined in a supplementary protocol which is updated each year.

SCNAT’s service agreement complements the framework agreement between the Swiss Confederation and the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences, the umbrella organization of the four Swiss academies of sciences.
